Hair fall

The visible hair shaft is made of keratinised cells, while the follicle beneath the scalp is the structure involved in producing hair. At the base of the follicle, rapidly dividing cells contribute to formation of the hair fibre, while surrounding structures help support the growth process.  This is why understanding hair fall requires looking at the scalp, follicle and hair-growth cycle—not only the visible strand.

Understanding what’s really happening at the follicle Hair fall is something almost everyone notices at some point—on the pillow, in the shower or while brushing. Some daily shedding is part of the natural hair cycle. But when shedding becomes noticeably heavier, persists for weeks, or is accompanied by visible thinning, it may be worth looking beyond the hair you can see. The important thing to understand is that hair growth does not begin at the ends of the hair. It begins beneath the scalp, at the follicle.
